Ateneo CORD: Innovation in Philippine Organizations

The issue of global competitiveness is especially salient for the Philippines given its low ranking (66 out of 131 countries) in the World Economic Forums 2007-08 Global Economic Report. This low ranking was attributed to a lack of sophistication in production processes, limited distribution channels, and low capacity for innovation. It is thus evident that innovation is imperative to enable Philippine business organizations to undertake transformation in order to cope better with global challenges. This study conducted by the Ateneo-Center for Organization Research and Development (CORD) examined innovation among 23 Filipino organizations from a variety of industries.  Results emphasized the factors that drive or hinder innovation in Philippine organizations and highlighted differences in innovation cultures by type of organization.
